How to Use

  1. Log in and pick an API key. The upscaler uses your iApp account; new accounts can create a key on the API Keys page.
  2. Upload the image. JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB. Transparent PNGs keep their transparency.
  3. Choose the scale. 4x for small images up to 1024 x 1024, 2x for images up to 2048 x 2048. The output is limited to 4096 x 4096.
  4. Choose the content type. Photo for photographs and general images, Illustration for anime and flat artwork, Fast when throughput matters more than detail.
  5. Choose the output format. PNG is lossless; JPEG and WebP are 10 to 20 times smaller.
  6. Press Upscale. The result appears in about one second. Drag the handle to compare, then download.

Tips for Great Results

  • Start from the best copy you have. The upscaler rebuilds texture, but it cannot recover detail that was never in the file.
  • Use the Photo model for anything that came from a camera, including screenshots of photos.
  • Use the Illustration model for line art, anime, logos and flat graphics; the photo model adds texture such content should not have.
  • Choose PNG when you will edit or print the result, JPEG or WebP when you will post it online.
  • If the 4x output would exceed 4096 x 4096, the tool tells you the largest input for that scale; switch to 2x instead.

Measured Performance

On the production service (7 September 2026, photo model), a 1024 x 1024 image becomes 4096 x 4096 in 0.98 seconds, and a 512 x 512 image becomes 2048 x 2048 in 0.23 seconds. On 29 reference images reduced 4x and enlarged back, the upscaler was closer to the original than a plain resize on all 29 (LPIPS 0.159 versus 0.284, lower is better). Full tables are in the API documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free? You need an iApp account with credits. Each image costs 1 IC regardless of size or scale. Failed or rejected requests are not charged.

What is the largest image I can upload? 10 MB and 16.8 megapixels. The output is limited to 4096 x 4096, so at 4x the input may be up to 1024 x 1024 and at 2x up to 2048 x 2048.

Does it keep transparency? Yes. A transparent PNG comes back as a transparent PNG at the new size.

Will faces and small text come out correctly? They come out sharp, but detail that was not in the source is invented rather than recovered. A face at 40 pixels will look like a face, not necessarily like the same person. Do not use the output as evidence of what a low-resolution image showed.

Are my images stored? No. Images are processed in memory on iApp-operated servers in Thailand and returned in the response; nothing is written to disk or sent to a third party.

Can I use the results commercially? Yes. The upscaled images are yours for personal or commercial use.
